Article XIII: Potentiality for Divinity

"Whenever there is a decline of dharma and rise of adharma, then I embody Myself, O Bharata. For the protection of the good, for the destruction of wicked, and for the establishment of dharma, I am born in every age." Bhagavad Gita (IV:7-8)

The fact that God manifests Himself through incarnations is quite profound. This theme holds true across religions, e.g. Krishna, Jesus, and Buddha. Krishna and Jesus were born fully mortal and fully Divine while Buddha was born mortal and became fully Divine. The implications of this idea are extraordinary. The presence of these paradoxically "fully Divine men" exemplify the potentiality of the Divine in all human beings. The view that our true nature is Divine is central in Vedanta, however, I think these implications exist across religions, including Christianity. "The Kingdom of God is within you." (Luke 17:21)
