Article XXXIX: Non-attachment

Vedanta generally prescribes a path of moderation, like the middle path of Buddhism. It is not necessary to abstain from sensory pleasures like food, entertainment, or even drugs. However, moderation may be important in order to remain non-attached and selfless with one's interactions with the world. In every action, one must have righteous intentions, be completely selfless, and have no attachments to the results. Only then can one realize the eternal bliss of enlightenment.
