Article XLIX: Forms of the Divine

Hindus will generally agree that there exists one ultimate Reality, but there are still a variety of forms of the Divine that are worshipped. It is believed that the Divine is infinite, meaning that any form to represent the Divine is only a finite representation of that which is infinite. Hence, Hindus represent the infinite Divine through infinitely many deities, all of which are only partial expressions of the true, ultimate Reality. Hindus will generally accept deities and paths followed by other sects, but the contention usually lies in which path or which deity is ultimately superior.
